2002 First considered when I bought a used
Chevy S10 conversion that was once part of the Harvard
fleet. Shout out to my student David Kaplan who discussed
an articulating pontoon design with me way back then. I
didn't keep the conversion, but I kept the idea! Went through a bunch of design iterations,
and a I bought and sold a few Wranglers - and one Isuzu
Trooper - on my way to the 1995 (last of the YJ
years)Wrangler Rio Grande that became the donor chassis 2016 Passes road inspection 2018 Work on flotation vessel begins 2020 First layer of fiberglass 2021 First layer of Gel-coat 2022 INATOR plate; first launch (no water
propulsion) 2024 First car show (Maynard Motors); first
powered trip in the water (retired Natick Fire Department
10-hp long-shaft outboard), first "self-retrieval"; HIN
issued (legal as a boat) by Mass Environmental Police 2025 Three more voyages, last one ends with
a stalled motor. (Fuel starvation?) Local fishermen help
me out. About 1600 hrs of work so far!
